Plan Your Arrival

A great part of your experience as a first-year student at Columbia University is learning to be open to new situations and experiences. Your first room, roommate, and residence hall in college will definitely be experiences that you will never forget.

You will receive an email from Columbia Housing on Monday, June 30, with your housing assignment, roommate information (if applicable), mailbox assignment, and confirmation of your Dining Plan. If you don’t receive this email, or haven’t signed your Occupancy Agreement online, please email housing@columbia.edu. Detailed information about Columbia Housing and the residence halls is available at housing.columbia.edu.

Exchange and transfer students will receive their Housing assignments by late August.

In the meantime, here are some useful tools to help you make the necessary arrangements for your arrival on campus to ensure that your move-in experience is as stress-free as possible:

30 Days Before Registration

Submit proof of MMR immunity at least 30 days before class registration.*

Certify your meningitis vaccination decision online before class registration.

*If admitted less than 30 days before registration, your ability to register will be on hold until your MMR documentation is received and processed.

2 Weeks Before Your School Orientation

Submit a photo online for your University ID card. You will be able to pick up your card when you arrive on campus.

August 14, 2017 (All day)

First Fall E-Bill statement emailed to students. Includes activity through Summer Term, estimated Fall Term charges and anticipated credits, and a 1.5% late payment charge on unpaid previous balances. 

September 15, 2017 (All day)

Payment Due Date for the First Fall E-Bill Statement. Visit the Student Financial Services website for the complete Billing Schedule.
